Saturday is game day of homecoming week at Northeastern State University, featuring a schedule which includes football, food and fun.
The day opens with the Athletic Association Breakfast at 8 a.m. in the Rozell Ballroom of the University Center. Current and former athletes and their guests are invited. Admission to the breakfast is $10. For more information contact NSU athletics at (918) 444-3900 or visit goriverhawksgo.com.
Barnes & Noble’s Discounts and Donuts is 9-11 a.m. at the RiverHawk Shoppe in the University Center. Discounts will be offered on apparel and coffee and donuts will be served.
Beginning at 9:30 a.m. is the Alumni Association Life Member Luncheon and Half Century Club Brunch. The event is in the back yard of President Steve Turner’s home. Alumni from the Class of 1963 will be honored. An RSVP is necessary. Call the Office of Alumni Services at (918) 458-2143 for information.
The Homecoming Parade, beginning at 11 a.m., follows a route from downtown Tahlequah to Doc Wadley Stadium. The distinguished alumni will participate in the parade. They are Dianne Barker Harrold and Jimmy Houston, distinguished alumni; Michael Bolding, outstanding young alumnus; and Glenn Coffee, recipient of the President’s Award for Community Service.
Many campus organizations hold celebrations or reunions Saturday. The reunion of Delta Zeta sorority is at 10:30 a.m. in the west driveway of the University Center. The African American Student Association alumni reunion is at noon in the Rozell Ballroom of the UC.
Also at noon in the north parking lot of Doc Wadley Stadium are the Reunion Tailgate Party and the College of Liberal Arts Tailgate. In Room 127 of the Leoser complex is the University Housing Homecoming Reception from noon - 1:30 p.m.
Homecoming culminates with the 2 p.m. football game between NSU and Northwest Missouri State at Wadley Stadium. General admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students ages 4 through high school. Children 3-under are admitted free. Chairback seats on the west side are $20 each.
Being held in conjunction with homecoming weekend is the Tahlequah North End Music Fest. Saturday’s lineup of bands begins playing at 3:30 p.m. at Norris Park.
