A good credit history is an advantage when shopping for a loan, and poor credit is problematic.
In a recent online poll, the Tahlequah Daily Press asked the question, “When it comes to credit, what is your status at this time?” Respondents were given choices of:
“My credit is exceptional.”
“My credit is good.”
“My credit is fair.”
“My credit is poor.”
“I have no credit.”
“I don’t know my credit status.”
A plurality of respondents, 31 percent or 40 votes, said their credit is good. Another 29 percent, or 38 votes, said their credit is exceptional.
Of the respondents, 19 percent, or 24 voters, said they have poor credit. Fourteen voters, or 11 percent, reported fair credit, and eight voters, or six percent, do not know the status of their credit. Five voters, or four percent, reported no credit history.
