TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah High School will celebrate homecoming on Friday, Oct. 4, with a parade/pep assembly, coronation, football game and dance.

Homecoming royalty will be crowned preceding the football game, and the selection process for court varies from sports to clubs and organizations.

According to THS Student Council sponsor April Quiett, the all-sports king and queen candidates’ names are submitted by THS coaches. All seniors who have played one sport for four years, or two sports for two years are considered. All athletes in grades 10-12 vote on the list of seniors. The top three boys and top three girls are the homecoming king/queen final candidates. Those six names are then put before the entire student body for a vote.

All other organizations choose their sweetheart and escorts from within their clubs, and only participants in the organizations can vote for the sweetheart and escort. For instance, the Orange Express has a senior band sweetheart and escort, along with freshmen, sophomore and junior attendants and escorts.
