OSU hoops to play in Old Spice Classic

State briefs

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State’s schedule in the Old Spice Classic basketball tournament has been announced — plus a game against Memphis that is part of the event but not the tournament.

OSU will host Memphis on Nov. 19 as a non-bracketed game of the classic that will be televised by ESPN.

The Cowboys will then open play in the tournament at Walt Disney World on Nov. 28 against Butler. OSU will then play either Butler or Washington State on Nov. 29. The other half of the bracket includes Memphis, LSU, St. Josephs and Siena.

The finals and consolation games will be played Dec. 1.

Stanford softball pitcher transfers to Oklahoma

NORMAN — University of Oklahoma softball coach Patty Gasso says pitcher Kelsey Stevens is transferring from Stanford to OU.

Gasso announced Tuesday that Stevens will join the defending national champion Sooners beginning in the spring of 2014.

Stevens was an All-Pac 12 Freshman selection in 2013 after going 15-7 with a 2.99 earned run average.

Stevens also faced OU during the 2013 season when she relieved in the second inning after the Sooners had scored five runs in the first in the season-opener on Feb. 8. She pitched the final six innings and held the Sooners to one run on two hits while striking out seven.

OSU's Marcus Smart invited to USA Basketball camp

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State sophomore Marcus Smart has been invited to attend the USA Basketball Men’s National Team Mini-Camp.

Smart is the only collegian among the 29 players who have accepted an invitation to the July 22-25 camp in Las Vegas and all the other players are currently on an NBA roster.

The players will arrive July 21 and take part in daily training sessions each of the next three days before holding an intrasquad game on July 25.

2 from OSU on Biletnikoff Award watch list

STILLWATER — Two Oklahoma State receivers have been named to the preseason watch list for the Biletnikoff Award.

The award is presented annually to the nation’s top receiver.

The list announced Tuesday includes OSU senior Tracy Moore and junior Josh Stewart.

Moore was injured four games into the 2012 season and is returning for a fifth year at OSU. Stewart is a returning All-Big 12 selection who had 101 receptions as a sophomore last year.
