OSU said in a news release that Caldwell defeated Russia’s Shamil-Imam Osmanov in the finals of the 163 pound division of the University World Championships Tuesday in Pecs, Hungary.

Caldwell won three matches to claim the title. He was a four-time All-American and a two-time NCAA finalist while in college.

Fellow former Cowboy Chris Perry will wrestle Wednesday at 189 pounds.

Charleston hoop coach won’t travel to recruit

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Embattled College of Charleston men’s basketball coach Doug Wojcik won’t be allowed to recruit on the road after a school report found it likely he verbally abused players and other personnel.

The school issued a statement Tuesday saying Wojcik could attend meetings in Charleston but not travel. Coaches can resume recruiting on the road Wednesday. Wojcik’s assistant coaches — Antonio Reynolds Dean, Joe Wallace and Ryan Freeberg — will be out recruiting, the school said in its release.

College of Charleston President Glenn McConnell continues consulting with other school leaders about Wojcik’s behavior and his future with the program.

Wojcik has said in a statement released through his attorney that he won’t quit.

The 50-year-old coach has a 38-29 record in two seasons with the Cougars.
