STILLWATER — Oklahoma State plans to retire the jersey number of late pitcher Tom Borland.
The school announced Thursday that a ceremony is planned before the Cowboys' May 16 game against West Virginia to retire Borland's No. 11 jersey. He will become the fourth person to have his jersey retired at Oklahoma State, along with Robin Ventura (21), Pete Incaviglia (29) and coach Gary Ward (20).
The other three are members of the College Baseball Hall of Fame, and Borland is set to be inducted in June. He died in March at age 80.
A left-handed pitcher, Borland was 19-2 in his career with a 2.63 ERA and 16 complete games. He helped the school, then known as Oklahoma A&M, to the College World Series in 1954 and 1955.
