Shinn at 3 p.m.: Jones regains some rhythm

NORMAN — Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones had his best performance of the season against Texas Tech. He only threw for 259 yards, but he had touchdown passes to wide receivers Justin Brown and Kenny Stills.

OU coach Bob Stoops said Jones elevated his play, but he wasn't alone.

"I think it's fair to say with what we're doing offensively, we're putting him in a better position. And I believe also he executed better, along with the guys around him. I think, too, if you look at some of his throws where he's going to his third receiver, he was protected well and allowed to do that," he said. "It all works together. It's never one guy. He, unfortunately, takes too much of the heat when it isn't right or it isn't as good as you want it to be. But it's everyone together."

Jones' pass efficiency rating against the Red Raiders was 133.39. Technically, it was lower than his season average of 135.92.

Still, he thought it was his best performance since last season's game against Texas A&M.

"I think this is the most in-rhythm that I felt in a long, long, long time around this place dating back to even last year, " he said. " I think what we did offensively was great and I think (offensive coordinator Josh) Heupel did a great job of developing a scheme and developing plays for us to get us in rhythm and all those sort of things. I think a lot of credit goes to him and a lot of credit goes to our offensive line for putting our running backs in good positions and making a good pocket for me."
