Oklahoma coach Patty Gasso wanted this weekend’s NCAA super regional to be a distraction for those affected by the week’s severe weather. But another round of storms on Thursday means that fans had to wait one more day for it.
Thursday’s opening game between top-ranked OU (50-4) and 16th-seed Texas A&M (42-16) was first delayed and then officially postponed due to harsh field conditions after a week of rain.
The teams were originally scheduled to play one game Thursday and possibly two today to decide which team advances to the Women’s College World Series.
Instead, the Sooners and Aggies will try to get started with the opening game at Marita Hynes Field at 6 p.m. today. Times for Saturday’s game, or games if necessary, have yet to be determined.
