— Cherokee County sheriff's deputies arrested an area man Tuesday after he allegedly physically assaulted his stepson.
Kevin Michael Walters, 41, was booked on charges of domestic abuse and public drunk. Reports state he assaulted his 14-year-old stepson. The boy had visible injuries seen by deputies.
Deputies took a report Tuesday from Kathryn Koenig concerning an assault.
Staci Barrett also filed a report Tuesday about a man grabbing her by the throat and lifting her up.
Jerry Rush told deputies someone entered Welch's Store at Peggs. A pair of cash drawers was taken; the theft remains under investigation.
