An area man faces felony charges after allegedly trying to hit an off-duty Cherokee County sheriff’s deputy with a vehicle.
Brice Barnhart was arrested Sunday for assault with a deadly weapon. Reports state Sheriff’s Deputy Waylon Tarkington was at a family member’s house when Barnhart arrived and was asked to leave. A disagreement started, and Barnhart allegedly drove his vehicle at Tarkington, trying to hit him. Tarkington was off-duty at the time.
Brent Skocdopole and Damen Whitney were victims Saturday of an alleged assault. A suspect was allegedly hitting Skocdopole, and when Whitney intervened, he was assaulted with a rock. He was also allegedly kicked by suspects and suffered internal injuries.
Dennis Lee Giffen Jr., 19, was booked Saturday for public drunk, minor in possession of 3.2 beer, transporting an open container and possession of paraphernalia. He allegedly had a glass pipe and also had a beer between his feet on the floorboard.
Cassandra Gerock filed a report Saturday, alleging she was grabbed by the arm and her shirt was ripped.
Sabrina Travis spoke to deputies last Thursday after her 2007 Dodge was scratched with a key on both sides.
Deputies were called Saturday to Flint Ridge Grocery after the front door was damaged with a rock.
