Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested an area man Monday after he allegedly assaulted a woman while deputies were at the location on a civil standby.
Reports state Sheriff’s Deputy James Brown was at the residence to keep the peace when William Lynn Wheeler, 62, allegedly took a 2 by 2 from Amanda Wheeler and pushed her to the ground. He then allegedly stood over as if he was going to hit her with the 2 by 2. When Brown told him to stop and announced his presence, Wheeler allegedly kneed Amanda in the side. He also allegedly resisted Brown’s effort to arrest him.
In an unrelated matter, sheriff’s deputies are investigating an incident where Rebecca Velazquez was choked Monday by a man and thrown to the ground. A domestic abuse report has been filed.
Mona Garner said Wednesday someone took her tan 1991 Ford Escort.
Jyssica Mock said Tuesday she’s being harassed.
Darrell Dry told deputies Monday rails for the bed of his truck have been stolen. Bette Scruggins said Saturday someone went through vehicles in her shop.
