Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man over the weekend when he allegedly broke into an occupied home.
Daniel Vann LaPorte, 30, of Tahlequah, was booked for first-degree burglary. LaPorte allegedly kicked in the front door of a home and got into an altercation with one person who was in the home. He allegedly tried to get the phone away from a woman who was calling 911, and injured her. He then fled when he heard deputies’ sirens, but was later located at a family member’s residence.
In other matters, deputies last week arrested Henry Eugene White, 44, of Gore, for driving under the influence second offense, no driver’s license, and transporting an open container.
Deputies arrested Timothey James Reason, 29, of Welling, for domestic assault and battery in the presence of a minor Friday morning.
Mandy Hawzipta and Preston Walema spoke with deputies last week about fraud. The two told deputies they attempted to purchase a dog online and have it shipped from Utah to Tahlequah. After making some payments and having issues with delivery, they learned the purchase was actually a scam.
