TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Tulsa man Sunday for driving under the influence.

Tyler Ellis Shearer, 21, was booked into jail for DUI and transporting an open container after deputies stopped Shearer. He allegedly smelled of alcohol and had an open container of beer in his truck, but denied he had been drinking. He also allegedly refused to exit the vehicle and had to be pulled out. Shearer refused to take a state’s test to determine his breath-alcohol content.

Deputies turned in a report this week on a Nov. 15 incident involving an upset grandparent at a local school basketball game. Bryan Hix, superintendent at Lowrey School, told deputies the grandfather of a student became upset during a fifth- and sixth-grade basketball game. The man exited the stands and approached coach Gary Wing, then shoved the coach and continued to scream at him. Hix intervened and the man shoved Hix before an off-duty Tahlequah police officer helped escort him out of the facility. Hix told deputies the man made threats against Wing and Hix during the altercation.

Zane Rodgers, of Direct Traffic Control, filed a report last week after tires on a message board were stolen.

Kelly James filed a home burglary report Sunday.

Stephanie Thompson filed an information report last week.

Rhonda See reported the theft of a right tail light and eight gallons of fuel last week.

Deputies filed a report earlier this month on the possible sexual assault of a 3-year-old committed by a 12-year-old.
