Citizens hold thief at gunpoint

TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah police say a couple who found a man inside their vehicle chased him down and held him at gunpoint until officers arrived.

Justin Michael Hunter, 25, of Norman, was booked for burglary of an automobile and public intoxication.

Tahlequah Reserve Officer Austin Yates responded to the 1,100 block of South East Avenue, when Dennis and Melissa Moore called for help. When Yates arrived, Dennis Moore had Hunter at gunpoint and was keeping Hunter from leaving the scene.

According to police, the Moores saw Hunter inside their vehicle. Hunter then ran, but was caught and held until officers arrived.
