Police Beat: Tahlequah woman arrested on drug charges

TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah police arrested a woman Thursday on drug-related charges.

Rositta Dean, 40, of Tahlequah, was booked for possession of marijuana and an outstanding warrant through Cherokee County.

Police spoke to a woman Thursday after she was stopped by a door greeter at Walmart. The woman said she was leaving and was grabbed by a door greeter and told her shopping cart needed to be searched. The woman became upset and refused to be searched, and told police the greeter had pulled her basket back inside and asked for her receipt. According to the woman, she refused to provide her receipt and called police. When officers arrived, the woman was on the phone with an attorney. Police said the receipt was provided, and a check revealed one of the items in the woman’s cart had been overlooked during the checkout process. Police said the woman was allowed to make a statement about the incident, and officers later reviewed video of the incident. According to police, the door greeter at Walmart attempted to get the woman’s attention as she was leaving, but she ignored the man. The greeter then stopped the basket from going outside, but never touched the customer.

Officers took a report Thursday from Sheila Thompson and Lori Clinton after they had a pair of Caviar frames stolen from Family Vision Care.
