Police Beat: Deputies investigating sexual assault charge

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies filed a report this week after looking into the possible sexual assault of a child.

According to deputies, a 7-year-old boy revealed to his mother and father recently that another man had inappropriately touched him years ago. The boy told his parents he didn’t say anything because he was afraid they would laugh at him. Deputies sat in on a forensic interview of the boy, but he declined to provide details, other than to say he had told his mom and dad a “secret” about the suspect.

In other matters, Bobbi Anderson filed a stolen-purse report this week.

Kylie Girdner filed an information report.

Kelly Leinberger said she has been receiving harassing and threatening text messages recently.

Cynthia Kirkhart said something was placed over her head and she was then hit and kicked by the unknown suspect.

Deputies took a report Tuesday from Darla White, who said a brass horse is missing. White said the horse is about 3 feet tall.
