Police Beat: Tahlequah man jailed for assault

TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah police arrested a man Thursday after he allegedly assaulted an ex-girlfriend.

Ty Blaine Miller, 19, of Tahlequah, was booked for domestic violence. Officer Brad Robertson said Miller allegedly went to Kylie Haney’s home, began to assault her, and took her phone away. Haney told officers Miller caused her to fall and hit her head. Officers went to Miller’s work site and arrested him.

Cory A. Meaders, 20, of Tahlequah, was arrested Thursday evening for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop on North Cedar.

Stephanie Peters, 43, of Stilwell, was arrested Thursday for driving under the influence after officers stopped her on East Downing Street.

Sheryl D. Hummingbird, 33, of Tahlequah, was arrested Thursday when she allegedly went to Walmart, selected several clothing items, then swapped tags for sale prices. Hummingbird then purchased the items at the sale price, and was stopped by asset protection employees.

Officers took a report from Jay Cook last week when he found unauthorized transactions on his account.

James Birdtail told police a checkbook was stolen last week.
