Sheriff Beat: Tahlequah man jailed after traffic stop

TAHLEQUAH — A 39-year-old Tahlequah man was arrested Thursday after a traffic stop.

Deputy Tom Moore said he stopped Wendell Shannon Wing and found Wing to be in a “stupor.” Wing allegedly stared at Moore when Moore asked for information. When Moore requested a driver’s license, Wing allegedly provided a casino players card. He later became belligerent and refused to get out of his car. Wing was booked into jail for driving under the influence second or subsequent.

Robin James Vann, 35, of Tahlequah, was arrested for public intoxication and giving a false identification to avoid prosecution Thursday. Deputy Jarrick Snyder said he was sent to Grand View Road and found Vann face-down in a ditch. Vann allegedly said he was resting, and provided false information. Snyder said Vann was being sought on an outstanding warrant.
