Police Beat: Woman taken to jail after passing out near a creek

TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah police took a woman to jail last week after she was found passed out near a creek on Smith Street.

Callers said the woman was lying there, and they couldn’t tell whether she was alive. Police arrived and assisted 43-year-old Janice Logan from the ground. She allegedly smelled of alcohol and was unable to stand without assistance. Logan was booked for public intoxication.

An early-morning traffic stop resulted in the arrest of five people Friday. Christian L. Keith, 19, of Stigler, was arrested for driving under the influence. Cody Johnson, 20, of Van Buren, Ark.; Corby J. Kirkland, 18, of Heavener; Trevor S. Smith, 19, of Heavener; and Devin Brown, 19, of Gans, were each booked for public intoxication.

John T. Gilmore, 20, of Muskogee, was arrested Friday morning for DUI of drugs and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop.

Gary Owens, 57, of Muskogee, was arrested Friday for DUI, driving under suspension and no valid insurance. Police said Owens had a breath-alcohol content of .11 according to a portable breath test, but he refused to take the formal state’s test.

Officers took a report from Jack Garrett last week after a rental trailer was vandalized with graffiti.
