Police Beat: Man arrested at safety checkpoint for DUI drugs


TAHLEQUAH — An 18-year-old Tahlequah man was arrested Friday night at a safety checkpoint.

Police said Alex K. Hodge was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, driving without a license and possession of marijuana.

Darrell Meeley, 52, of Tahlequah was arrested Friday for public intoxication near Grand View and Sleepy Hollow.

Edward L. Goodrum, 36, of Tahlequah, was arrested Sunday for allegedly trying to take a rifle scope from Walmart.

Melinda R. Windsor, 38, of Tahlequah, was arrested Saturday for allegedly shoplifting CDs and other items from Walmart..

Sherrill Chancellor, 57, of Tahlequah, was arrested Friday for shoplifting from Walmart.

Micah R. Downing, 29, of Tahlequah, was arrested last week after he allegedly admitted to writing and cashing a woman’s checks without permission.

In other matters, police took threats report from Patsy Turner Sunday.

Robert Spear told police Sunday he was assaulted and required medical attention for the injuries he received. Spear did not want to press charges against the suspect, according to officers.

Esther Moore spoke with police Saturday after her dog was attacked by another dog.

Elizabeth Rowan told police her mini-storage was burglarized last week.

Kevin Vann filed a report last week after a generator was stolen from a trailer.
