Sperry man nailed for DUI

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Sperry man Friday after he allegedly ran off the road while driving drunk.

Blake Lane Teel, 19, was arrested for driving under the influence while under the age of 21. Witnesses reported a truck had gone off the road and was stuck in a ditch. Deputy Raymond Hendricks responded to the area and passed the vehicle, which appeared to have suffered front-end damage and had a broken windshield. Hendricks stopped the vehicle and arrested Teel, who eventually took a state’s breath test that showed a .07 breath-alcohol concentration.

In other matters, deputies took a report from Alan LaFerry, of LaFerry Propane Company, about the company being defrauded.

Michael Slape told deputies that three children threw rocks at a piece of heavy equipment and broke several windows, along with a vent cover.

Mary Smith reported the theft of medication Thursday.

Tommy Wright reported theft of a wallet Thursday.
