Tahlequah man nailed at safety checkpoint

TAHLEQUAH — A 30-year-old Tahlequah man was jailed last week after he traveled through a safety checkpoint on State Highway 82.

Deputy Raymond Hendricks was helping the Oklahoma Highway Patrol with the checkpoint when he met Cameron Slade Huntley. Hendricks said Huntley was “very nervous,” and had sprayed a large amount of cologne inside the car. A check with dispatchers revealed Huntley had a revoked driver’s license, and a warrant out of Cherokee County.

Huntley allegedly told deputies there was marijuana and a pipe under the driver’s seat of his vehicle. Hendricks said he found a container of weed, a clear bag of weed, and the pipe. Huntley was booked into jail for possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and driving under revocation.
