Park Hill woman nabbed while passed out in vehicle

TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah police arrested a Park Hill woman who was passed out in her vehicle at a convenience store Sunday morning.

Witnesses said Surella Nimsey, 35, had been parked at the fuel pumps at EZ-Mart on East Downing for an extended period of time. Officer Reed Felts arrived at about 7 a.m. and could smell alcohol on Nimsey, whose speech was slurred.

Felts said he noticed several cans of beer inside a plastic bag on the floor board of Nimsey’s vehicle. She claimed she had consumed a couple of drinks.

Nimsey would not provide the officer with a full sample when he asked her to submit to his portable breath test. Test results of the partial sample showed Nimsey to have a .119 breath-alcohol content, and Nimsey ultimately declined to take the state’s test.

Felts said he checked Nimsey’s driving records and learned she had been arrested for driving under the influence twice within the past 10 years.

She was booked into jail for actual physical control second or subsequent.
