Sheriff's Beat: Man picked up for DUI, open container

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Hulbert man Friday after a traffic stop near Willis Road.

Roberto Pacheco-Lopez, 20, was booked into jail for driving under the influence, transporting open container, no driver’s license, minor in possession of beer, no insurance and failure to stop. Pacheco-Lopez allegedly told deputies he had consumed six beers at work. Deputies said Pacheco-Lopez had an open can of beer in his lap when he was stopped. He refused to take the state’s breathalyzer test.

Michelle Rundel reported lost or stolen medications last week.

David Price told deputies he discovered someone had been trespassing and staying in an abandoned trailer on his property.

Ted Cekinovich reported a theft last week.

Helen Hendrix, of Sunshine Nursery, spoke to deputies Friday after a bigfoot statue was stolen. Deputies said the statue is about 3 feet tall and weighs around 30 pounds.

Deputies responded to McKee Trailer Park Saturday after a man reportedly pulled out a shotgun and pointed it at a woman and her children. Deputies took a report and were later called back to investigate shots being fired, involving the same unknown suspect and vehicle. Deputies did not locate the suspect, but said the owner of the trailer park admitted to knowing the man’s first name. She refused to answer deputies’ questions about the incident, according to a report filed on the call.

Rowdy Willis filed a theft report Sunday.

Alicia Straw filed a theft report Sunday.

Rene Hernandez told deputies his name was forged on his checks and cashed by an ex and a family member of the ex.

Kylee Mahurin filed a threats report Friday.
