Deputies investigating home burglary


TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a home burglary where the suspect left behind blood stains.

Jane Rystedt called deputies when the home burglary was discovered. Rystedt told deputies two safes containing jewelry were stolen, along with old coins, personal documents, a Ruger, cash, a Minnesota silver coin, silver certificates, personal checks, check books for the Illinois River Area Volunteer Fire Department, and more. Deputies collected blood found at the home and have sent samples to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation for analysis.

In other matters, peter Herold reported a trailer stolen Monday.

Elizabeth Rose reported the theft of a love seat Monday.

Evelyne Gaunt reported credit card fraud this week.

Daniel Davis filed an information report Monday.

Deputies took a report involving stolen firearms Tuesday.

McCoy Steelman said a bedroom window was forced open, and the suspect took a Remington 243 rifle, a 20-gauge shotgun, and some medications.

Tyler Hicks reported a custody issue Tuesday.

Ruth Ridley reported a home burglary Tuesday and said a TV was stolen and a VCR was broken.
