Deputies file report on man killed while hunting

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies filed a report this week after the weekend death of a man who was hunting.

Deputies said Lonnie Dale Clinton, 60, of Hulbert, went hunting the morning of Nov. 23. When he hadn’t been heard from that day, family members discovered Clinton had apparently fell from his tree stand and been caught in a safety harness. Deputies said it appeared as though the harness slid up and caused Clinton’s death. The report lists the manner of death as pending.

In other matters, deputies spoke to Maria Mannon this week after her house was burglarized. Medication, a watch, and a lock box with cash was taken.

Krista Smith filed an information report Monday.

Micco Broaddrick reported the theft of a 47-inch LCD TV Monday.

Norma Brannon reported the theft of medication last week.

Reinaldo Flores told deputies he was assaulted during a confrontation recently.
