Man reports burglary

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies took a report this week after a man returned home and discovered his house had been burglarized.

James Dallis said his gate had been opened and he found a Kansas man’s identification on the ground. Once inside his home, Dallis determined he was missing a Matthews compound bow Q2XL, and a microvault that contained a 45-caliber handgun with three magazines. Deputies said they later determined the identification that had been discovered was stolen from a Kansas man while he was on the river earlier this month.

Teresa Rose riled a report this week about the theft of a 1979 Buick.

Jenll Tomasheski reported the theft of a chihuahua recently.

Deputies spoke with a woman Tuesday after she caught suspects taking backhoe buckets from a residence on West 790 Road. The truck was followed as it left the scene, but it later lost the items in the road and drove off at a high rate of speed.

Marcie Reed told deputies this week she loaned her vehicle to a woman and later discovered her checkbook missing from the car. Several checks were forged, she told deputies.

Robert Holbird spoke with deputies after the tag was taken off of his vehicle this week.

Joe Bailey told deputies this week his house was burglarized, and the thief took four mounted deer heads, a 36-inch flat screen TV, and other items.

Amanda Dunn filed a harassment report Tuesday.
