Sheriff's Beat: Woman arrested for actual physical control


TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested a woman Saturday after she allegedly called to make an assault report, but ended up driving a vehicle while intoxicated.

Drushane Carey, 28, of Tahlequah, was arrested for aggravated actual physical control of a vehicle.

Carey had a .17 breath-alcohol content, deputies said.

Jason Duane Johnson, 37, of Tahlequah, was arrested last week for domestic assault and battery in the presence of a minor. Johnson allegedly assaulted a woman and slashed the tires of her vehicle with a knife.

Deputies took a report last week after a state health department vehicle was vandalized in Tahlequah.

Two windows on the car were busted, deputies said.

Dana Patrick reported the theft of a Ruger 38 special revolver recently.

Employees at Dollar General in Cookson filed a report after two young men entered the store, took two 12-packs of Budlight, and left without paying. Deputies said surveillance footage shows the suspects taking the beer and leaving.

Patty Dailey filed a burglary report Saturday after a door was pried open and items were taken.

Mark Enevoldsen told deputies on Sunday that he discovered 20 or 30 trees had been cut down on his property without his permission.

Joseph Hurst told deputies Saturday his AR-7 receiver and barrel was taken from his home.

Hurst said he found a second rifle outside the home, and the stock of the AR 7 had been left behind.

Amy Nunez spoke with deputies Saturday after she discovered her home had been burglarized.

Among the items stolen were DVDs, a DVD home theater sound system, speakers, a PlayStation 2 and Wii, a propane tank, and medications.

Don Qualls filed a theft report Thursday.

Paul Newberry told deputies last week that a gun rack and three firearms were stolen.

Scott Hobbs reported the theft of an air compressor and other items recently.

David Craig reported the theft of a 9mm SAR last week.
