Police Beat: Woman arrested after traffic stop

TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah police officers arrested a man and woman on alcohol-related charges after a traffic stop Tuesday.

Aaron Brown, 21, and Ashley V. Stone, 19, both of Stilwell, were arrested on suspicion of DUI and public intoxication, respectively. The traffic stop and arrests were made at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Allen Road, near Dano’s.

Also on Tuesday, police arrested Kaela C. Swope-Smith, 18, of Muskogee, after a traffic stop at Vinita Avenue and North Street. Swope-Smith was booked on charges of drug possession.

As part of a missing child investigation, the Tahlequah Police Department exchanged information Monday with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. The child, missing since March 20, is believed to be living with the biological father in Mexico.

On Monday, police arrested Anthony D. Morton, 42, at the Walmart Supercenter at 2020 S. Muskogee Ave. Morton was apprehended by asset protection after he allegedly placed items in a sack and tried to return them for a refund of $35.51. At the Tahlequah City Jail, Morton allegedly told police he had three baggies of “ice” in a pocket and a glass pipe in his boot. The police report states Morton has a warrant in Mayes County.

Also on Monday, police took Irene Creek into custody on suspicion of shoplifting at the Walmart Supercenter.

A man reported to police Monday that a window was broken at his residence on West Seneca Street. A suspect was named.

Police took a report at Pitter Patter Day Care that a sign was stolen near the intersection of Fox Street and Campbell Road on Monday.

A man called police on Monday to report that his vehicle was struck by a shopping cart while in the Sav-a-Lot parking lot on East Downing Street.
