Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man for public intoxication last week after he allegedly became a nuisance at the scene of a crash.
Deputies were assisting the Oklahoma Highway Patrol on Mud Valley Road, where a vehicle had rolled over. Deputies said Junior Adney, 43, of Hulbert, was at the scene with his daughter, who is the girlfriend of the driver who was involved in the crash.
Adney had to be asked to step back as troopers were conducting their investigation, according to deputies. At some point, an off-duty sheriff’s sergeant drove through and stopped to speak with the deputy who was on scene.
Adney allegedly approached the off-duty officer and began to “mouth” him, telling him he needed to “get the f--- on.”
Deputies said Adney smelled of alcohol and was unsteady on his feet at the scene of the crash.
He allegedly admitted to them he had consumed five or six mixed alcoholic beverages throughout the day. He was eventually jailed for public intoxication.
