TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah police jailed a woman Thursday evening after she allegedly slipped away from officers when she was caught trespassing.

Melissa Collins, 35, was booked for criminal trespassing and resisting arrest. Reserve Officer Edgar Lucero was sent to the 1,200 block of West Keetoowah when Collins was allegedly trespassing on property where she’d previously been banned.

Collins was found inside a residence, but she was in the shower when officers arrived. Lucero told Collins to finish, get dressed and come out to speak with him.

According to Lucero, Collins refused to talk with the officer; instead, she crawled out a bedroom window and began to run through the park. Lucero chased Collins and was able to arrest her two blocks away.
