Tahlequah officers say a woman wanted by Arkansas authorities was picked up Sunday for shoplifting from Walmart.
Valerie Ann Weiser, 29, allegedly picked up and concealed a memory card from the electronics department of Walmart before she tried to leave the store without paying. Once Weiser was booked into jail, police learned she is being sought in Arkansas for a probation violation on charges of delivery or possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and commercial burglary.
In other matters, Tahlequah police filed a report recently on last week’s arrest of a woman who allegedly ran into a school bus. Amber K. Lewis, 25, of Tahlequah, allegedly told police her vehicle would not stop when she stepped on the brakes. Officers learned Lewis did not have a valid Oklahoma license, and her Texas license was not valid due to a previous charge of driving under the influence. According to Officer Thomas Donnell, Lewis told police she had taken two hydrocodone pills before the non-injury crash. She was arrested for DUI and driving without a valid license, and allegedly refused to take a blood test.
Nicole Purkey, 33, of Tahlequah, was arrested last week for domestic assault and battery.
Jessica Beaver, 21, of Tahlequah, was arrested Sunday for shoplifting at Walmart.
Reil Vanbuskirk, 27, of Peggs, was arrested Friday when he allegedly picked up a package of candy at Walmart, opened the package and put the candy into his pocket. Vanbuskirk then allegedly tried to leave the store. Police said Vanbuskirk began to yell at them, demanding his knife be given back to him. Officers said Vanbuskirk then tried to kick them when they were taking him to the patrol car. Once Vanbuskirk was at the jail, he allegedly kicked Officer Steven Smith in the leg. Vanbuskirk was eventually booked in for shoplifting, assault and battery on a police officer, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and public intoxication.
A juvenile was arrested Monday for taking a phone charger from Walmart.
Jeremy S. Harless, 25, of Peggs, was arrested last week for shoplifting at Walmart. Police they also found Harless to be in possession of silver pipe.
Nicholas R. Renfro, 21, of Tahlequah, was arrested Sunday after allegedly taking items from Walmart.
Officers stopped a vehicle early Monday morning and determined the passengers of the vehicle, all students at NSU, were intoxicated. Tyler D. Addy, 19, of Tahlequah; Joseph Brown, 22 of Muskogee; and Joshua Thompson, 20, of Muskogee, were arrested for public intoxication.
Denis P. Ridenhour, 59, of Welling, was arrested Saturday after he allegedly tried to leave the store without paying for some of the items in his possession.
Brenden S. Lewis, 18, of Sallisaw, was arrested Tuesday for driving under the influence. Police said he jumped a couple of curbs while driving.
Gavin R. Haddox, 21, of Sallisaw, was arrested Tuesday morning for DUI.
Jimmy N. Hamlin, 18, of Stilwell, was arrested Tuesday morning for DUI.
Officers arrested Suzanne R. Doyle, 25, of Tahlequah, for shoplifting diapers and baby clothes at Walmart. Employees of the retailer said Doyle placed the items in Walmart bags and a diaper bag and tried to leave without paying. Officers said the woman’s three young children were placed with family and friends before she was arrested.
