Tahlequah police arrested a man and woman this week when they were allegedly caught bagging items and trying to leave Walmart without paying.
Dustin B. Catcher, 25, and Gwenette S. Reynolds, 43, were booked into jail for grand larceny Tuesday evening.
Police said Walmart’s asset protection employees witnessed Catcher and Reynolds place several items inside a shopping cart as they walked through the store. They later took the cart to the general merchandise section of Walmart and began placing all of the items they had selected into Walmart bags. When the items were all in bags, the duo allegedly went to the front of the store and tried to leave without paying.
Police said an assistant manager stopped the two suspects and held them until police arrived.
Gwenette had her juvenile son with her at the time, according to police, so the child was released to his father.
Officers said Catcher and Reynolds tried to take more than $1,000 worth of merchandise, mostly grocery items.
