Bench warrant issued

TAHLEQUAH — A bench warrant has been issued for a Centrahoma man who allegedly failed to appear in court this month.

Dakota Lynn Chisholm, 19, is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Chisholm was expected in Cherokee County District Court recently for his initial appearance, but failed to show up. A judge issued a warrant and set a $1,000 bond.

Chisholm was free on a $5,000 bond after his December 2013 arrest. Sheriff’s deputies said Chisholm allegedly used a knife on another man at a local treatment facility. Staff there asked to have Chisholm removed after the incident.

Chisholm claimed he acted in self-defense, according to deputies. Chisholm and the victim had been drinking whiskey when the confrontation occurred, deputies said.
