Sheriff's Beat: Woman found dead; deputies investigating

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office deputies were asked to investigate after a woman was found dead Monday morning.

Brenda Jean Podtburg, 56, was found in her bed at her residence near Tahlequah. Deputies’ reports indicate no foul play suspected; however, her cause of death is currently ruled as unknown.

On Tuesday, county sheriff’s deputies responded to a complaint by a Hulbert man of a stolen motor vehicle. The missing truck is a red 2003 Chevrolet C4C with Oklahoma license plate number 931KTF and logos for Oak Grove Sawmill on the doors. The vehicle contained a Lincoln welder, air compressor, 200-gallon fuel tank and an assortment of air wrenches and hand tools.

Deputies visited a residence on Park Hill Road on Tuesday to take a report of a missing person; however, the missing woman returned to the residence Wednesday morning.

A Tahlequah woman reported Tuesday that a Tulsa man violated her protective order against him, citing texts and photos on her cell phone and a message given by the man to her mother.

A man filed a complaint Sunday about the theft of fishing equipment from his boat at his Tahlequah residence. Photos of shoe prints were taken at the scene.
