Sheriff's Beat: Man ‘steps out’ on girlfriend, leads to fight

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies spoke with a woman last week who said she tried to confront her boyfriend and another woman, and ended up being injured by a car.

Emberly Mouse said she and two other women were at the Dollar General in Hulbert when they spotted Mouse’s boyfriend with another woman. They tried to confront the duo, according to deputies, but the pair left in a vehicle. Mouse and her two family members followed the boyfriend and pulled in front of his car near Sunset Valley Road. During a confrontation, the woman who was driving the car with Mouse’s boyfriend drove off, and Mouse said the tires hit her leg. Deputies said they spoke to the driver, who provided a similar story but claimed she didn’t mean to hurt anyone and just wanted to escape the confrontation.

In other matters, Bobby Shankles reported the theft of a silver 2008 four-door Pontiac G6 GT with tag number 930-GLN.

Deputies took a report this week after a 6-year-old boy was bitten while petting a pit bulldog. Deputies said the dog was put down by the owner. The boy was bitten on his right forearm, right cheek, and right bicep.

Roy Poteet told deputies recently that he was shoved to the ground by another man.

Cheryl Stevens filed an information report recently.

Monica Mann reported being threatened by a man with a cane last week.

Antonio Chavez told deputies this week that he was assaulted.
