Man accused of assaulting boyfriend of family member

TAHLEQUAH — A 37-year-old Tahlequah man was jailed Sunday for allegedly assaulting the 20-year-old boyfriend of a teenage family member.

Tahlequah Officer Thomas Donnell said Ethan Russell told officers he was assaulted by Joshua Joe Lucas, a family member of the girl Russell is dating.

Russell said he was in bed at his home when Lucas entered his home, walked into his room, jumped on him, and began to hit him with a closed fist.

Lucas then allegedly got off of Russell, who was lying in a pool of his own blood, and began to walk away. Russell told officers he began to stand up, but Lucas walked over and kicked him in the face. Lucas then left the house.

Donnell said he photographed the injuries to Russell’s body, as well as the blood that was “everywhere” on Russell’s bed.

Officers met with Lucas and he allegedly admitted he assaulted Russell because Russell was having a relationship with a 17-year-old female family member of Lucas.

Lucas was booked into jail for first-degree burglary and assault and battery.
