Harassing phone calls reported by woman

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies spoke with a woman this week about harassing phone calls.

The woman said she started receiving calls from an unknown individual, who was calling from a blocked phone number, last September. The voice of the caller, she said, seemed to be imitating a young girl, but the woman believes it was actually a man pretending to be a girl. The woman told deputies the “girl” called several times and has called family members and other residents looking for her. She fears the caller could be watching her because the person has called minutes after she arrives home.

In other matters, deputies spoke to George Roberts on Tuesday about a theft. Roberts said the suspect stayed all night at his house, and when he got up the next morning, his iPod charger and $50 was missing.
