Female inmate attempts suicide


TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah police say a female inmate at the city jail attempted suicide Monday evening.

Officers said in a report of the incident that the 36-year-old woman tried to hang herself using her bra at around 5:30 p.m. Monday.

In other matters, officers logged several shoplifting arrests over the Christmas holiday. Cecilia Wilson, 35, of Hulbert, was booked into jail for shoplifting from Reasor’s on Christmas Eve.

Miriam S. Hathcoat, 35, of Welling, was arrested Monday for petit larceny after allegedly stealing from Walmart.

Jamie Macdonald, 28, of Tahlequah, was arrested Monday when she allegedly took $13 worth of razors from Walmart. She was booked for shoplifting and trespassing.

Jeffrey A. Fox, 52, and Rebecca D. Hurst, 49, both of Tahlequah, were arrested on Christmas Eve for shoplifting at Walmart.

Tejia Q. Williams, 19, of Rowlett, Texas, was arrested Sunday for shoplifting at Walmart. Police said Williams also gave officers a false name and birth date when she was being booked into jail.

John E. Girty Jr., 44, of Tahlequah, was arrested Tuesday after police responded to an assault. Girty was found on his stomach pretending to sleep, according to police. He refused to comply with officers, though he responded with “OK” when spoken to. He was eventually taken into custody for obstructing an officer.

Lakeisha Davis filed a report earlier this month after her wallet was lost at Walmart. It was later found in the parking lot of Rue21, but the cash was missing from inside.

Mark Wyly spoke with officers Tuesday after a window was shattered out of a vehicle overnight. Police said a large chunk of concrete was used to break the window.

Pamela Carter spoke with police on Monday and said a man has been driving around her place of employment honking his vehicle’s horn. The following day, Carter again spoke with police when the man continued to drive around her work site repeatedly.

Employees at Grace Living Center on Vinita filed a report Monday about the theft of medications.

Nalda Nofire told police Sunday that cash was stolen out of her wallet.

Tad Puetz told officers Monday that his Jeep was burglarized overnight, was ransacked, and several items were taken, including two box Yamaha speakers.

Officers spoke with Jonathan Dillard Monday about a 2012 Next bicycle being stolen from South Campbell Road.

Vicky Harlin filed a report Sunday after a DVD player was taken from a room at Hastings Hospital.

Employees at Walmart filed a report Sunday when a man entered the store, concealed merchandise from the electronics section, and left. Employees said the suspect fled when he failed to pay for the items.
