Man arrested for DUI, drugs

TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah police arrested a 33-year-old man last week after a traffic stop near College and Choctaw.

Jason Ezekiel Kirk, of Tahlequah, allegedly ran through a red light and was stopped by Officer Brad Robertson. Kirk allegedly got out of his vehicle and began to stumble. Kirk also smelled of alcohol, according to Robertson.

Officers learned Kirk had a flagged driver’s license and was being sought on two outstanding warrants. During an inventory of Kirk’s vehicle, Robertson found two plastic bags of marijuana in the side pocket of the driver’s-side door. He also found an open bottle of whiskey in Kirk’s coat pocket.

According to Robertson, Kirk had a breath-alcohol content of .26, more than three times the legal limit. Kirk was booked for failure to stop for a red light, DUI of liquor, driving while revoked, transporting an open container of liquor, and possession of marijuana. Kirk was still in jail Monday.
