Man picked up for knife assault

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Centrahoma man over the weekend after he allegedly used a knife on another man.

Dakota Lynn Chisholm, 19, was booked into jail for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Deputies responded when staff at a local treatment facility asked to have Chisholm removed because he had pulled a knife and attempted to stab another man.

Chisholm allegedly claimed he was acting in self-defense. Deputies said Chisholm and the assault victim had been drinking whiskey when the confrontation occurred. The victim suffered injuries when Chisholm used his knife.

Booking records show Chisholm received a $5,000 bond and was still jailed Monday.
