Woman says hay feeders stolen from her property


TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies spoke to a woman Saturday who said she caught someone stealing hay feeders from her property.

Starmye Halpain said one person threw something at her when she caught the theft in progress, and then the suspects tried to run her down with their vehicle. She was not injured and the suspects fled in their truck.

Samantha Johnson told deputies Sunday a man punched her in the face during an argument and then fled the scene.

Aubrey Christopher reported a home break-in last week.

Robert Maes, 27, of Park Hill, was arrested Saturday for domestic assault and battery in the presence of a minor. The victim said Maes grabbed her by the hair and pushed her to the ground during the assault.

Vickie Davis, 49, of Tahlequah, was arrested last week after she was denied a ride from a man and threw a rock through a front door. Davis told deputies she thought someone had stolen a purse, so she threw the rocks, but she later found the purse at her home. She was arrested for vandalism and transported to jail, deputies said.

Gerald Blevins spoke to deputies after a miscreant shot his truck while he was driving.

Leslie Johnson told deputies she was assaulted last weekend while she was at the Elk’s Lodge.

Diana Garman reported theft of a 1995 Chevrolet single-cab truck last week.
