TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies made several alcohol-related arrests over the weekend.

John Bruce Stromp, 47, of Tahlequah, was arrested Sunday for aggravated driving under the influence, left of center, and transporting open container beer. Deputy Daniel Pruitt said he saw Stromp’s vehicle go left of center. When he stopped Stromp, the suspect smelled of alcohol and had an open container of beer in the front seat. Pruitt allegedly had a blood-alcohol content of .16.

Adam Jeremiah Wallace, 29, of Tahlequah, was arrested Sunday for DUI second or subsequent and driving without a valid driver’s license. Deputies said Wallace was stopped at a safety checkpoint and told officers he’d left his driver’s license at home. He was unsteady on his feet and nearly fell several times, according to deputies. Wallace had a BAC of .14, and deputies said he had been arrested last month for DUI. A check of his history showed Wallace’s driver’s license expired in 2007, and he also had previous DUI charges in 2008 and 2006.
