Alleged cell phone thief may face multiple charges

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested two people while investigating the larceny of cell phones at Petit Bay on Sunday.

Deputies responded to a complaint by Jennifer McDowell that two cell phones had been stolen from juveniles by a woman. Witnesses provided a description of the woman, a man and a vehicle, which were tracked to a residence on Indian Road, three miles south of Petit Bay.At the residence, deputies arrested Stormy Don Ann Martin on suspicion of petty larceny, violation of probation, obstruction of an officer, attempting to elude an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, giving false information and knowingly concealing stolen property. Also arrested was Joshua Ray Ivey on an allegation of knowingly concealing stolen property.

Also on Sunday, deputies arrested Mailliw Taliaferro Jackson at a Park Hill Road checkpoint on suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, false impersonation and no driver’s license.

Deputies investigated a report of domestic violence at a residence on Park Hill Road on Sunday.

On Saturday at a residence in Oaks, deputies responded to a report from Tawny Johnson of domestic assault and battery by Linda Kay Johnson and Mikah Aaron Johnson. Both were arrested on the complaint, and Linda Johnson faces an additional allegation by deputies of resisting arrest.

Also on Saturday, Scott Edwin Free was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and battery after an alleged altercation with Devin Winkler at Tenkiller Behavioral Sciences Inc.’s Sugar Mountain Retreat. Winkler stated that Free attempted to strike him in the head with a chair and gouge his eyes.

A woman filed complaints on Saturday against several suspects for breaking and entering and assault and battery at her residence on Hilltop Circle.

Deputies responded to a complaint of breaking and entering at a residence on Rand Road, and took statements from juvenile witnesses.

On Thursday, deputies responded to a complaint of a protective order being broken, but upon taking reports suggested a state investigation of failure by a caretaker to protect an elderly person.

On Wednesday, Chuck Eastham reported the larceny of an electric mic welder and a Red Max straight shaft grass trimmer from property on Highway 10 north of Tahlequah.

Also on Wednesday, along Killabrew Road near Hulbert, David Theron Howard reported vandalism to a gate and Ronnie Howard reported vandalism to a vehicle. The two alleged the incidents were related.

On Aug. 17, Bryan K. Moates of Claremore reported the larceny of more than two dozen items from his boat at Caney Ridge Marina.

On Aug. 10, Amber Nicole Kelly reported the burglary from her home of several items, including a Toshiba laptop with serial number of Z8052889H.
