TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah police arrested a local woman Wednesday morning after she allegedly took a car without permission.

Kandis I. Gritts, 29, of Tahlequah, was booked for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Tahlequah Officer Brad Robertson said Randi Philpott reported the vehicle stolen Wednesday morning, and told police Gritts likely took it.

Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies went to Gritts’ home at Garden Walk Apartments and found the vehicle parked outside. Robertson said investigators could hear a baby inside the apartment, but Gritts would not answer the door.

Gritts was later found in a back bedroom and was taken into custody for the alleged unauthorized use, and for an outstanding warrant.
