Naked man assaults cops while on LSD

TAHLEQUAH — jnewton@tahlequahdailypress.com

A 22-year-old Tahlequah man bonded out of jail last week after he was arrested for allegedly running around naked and assaulting police officers while under the influence of LSD.

Tahlequah Officer Tony Aguilar said police received a call about a naked man in the area of Love’s, near Downing and Water streets, around 2 a.m. Thursday. Aguilar found the man standing on a curb.

“I made contact with him and asked him what was going on,” Aguilar reported. “He yelled, ‘Acid!’”

Kelley then allegedly ran behind a laundry facility and refused to stop as Aguilar chased him. Kelley struck Aguilar in the face with his fist and continued running.

Aguilar said he used his pepper spray on Kelley, who stopped for a moment but allegedly continued to run until Officer Brandon Vick caught him and took him to the ground.

“Kelley then continued to try and get up and run away,” Aguilar said. “As we were trying to place him in handcuffs, he continued resisting violently. He was also attempting to bite us as we were trying to control his hands.”

Other officers arrived and were able to help Aguilar and Vick get Kelley into handcuffs.

“Even after he was cuffed he continued to struggle violently and scream random words,” said Aguilar. “He later said he was under the influence of the drug ‘acid.’”

Kelley was transported to Tahlequah City Hospital, and later booked into jail for public intoxication, assault and battery on a peace officer, resisting arrest, and outraging public decency.
