Man arrested for public intoxication


TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 26-year-old Tahlequah man Monday evening after responding to suspicious activity near Garden Walk Apartments.

A woman told deputies Earl Max Travis had taken a TV out of her car and walked away. While deputies were speaking with the woman, Travis allegedly approached and appeared to have trouble walking. He also reeked of alcohol, deputies reported, and admitted he had consumed a 30-pack of beer and used “shake and bake” methamphetamine earlier in the day. He was taken into custody and booked for public intoxication.

Deputies spoke with Amber Kelly this week about her bank account being used to make unauthorized purchases.

Caroline Buffalomeat told deputies recently that her front door was kicked in and various items were stolen, including a Verizon Internet jack and clothing.

Angela Leach spoke with deputies this week about a burglary where multiple items were taken, including a PlayStation 3 and four games: Call of Duty Black Ops II, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and Crysis 3. Leach said a game controller, iPad, Nintendo DSI XL and an eight-movie “Harry Potter” Blu-Ray pack were taken. The PlayStation 3 console had two stickers on it, including an “I Heart Cuponk” sticker and a yellow hand sticker.

Melissa Wittman told deputies this week that someone entered her home and stole her medication.

Harold Kelly filed a report after his pit bull puppy was taken last week.

Joseph Scrivner filed an animal-bite report Monday.

Darrell Byfield reported a home burglary recently, and said eight different firearms were taken, along with ammunition, game systems, tools and jewelry.
