Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies took a report over the weekend when the Fort Gibson police chief discovered some vandalism near his home.
Clint Vernon, who also previously worked as the police chief at Northeastern State University, told deputies a crude phrase targeting his job was spray painted on the road in front of his residence.
In other matters, Chad D. Coleman, 36, of Van Buren, Ark., was arrested Saturday night for driving under the influence. Deputies said Coleman was driving in the opposite lane at Chicken Creek. He smelled of alcohol, seemed confused, and had trouble keeping his balance, according to deputies. Coleman had a breath-alcohol content of .15, nearly twice the legal limit.
Alisha Marie Snow, 27, was arrested last week for public intoxication, obstruction, and resisting. Deputies were called to Garden Walk Apartments several times to deal with Snow, according to reports. At one point, Snow claimed a person forced her to snort a white, powdery substance; another time, Snow said her apartment had been broken into and she was afraid to go back in. Deputies said Snow was unsteady on her feet and unable to answer simple questions. Children were turned over to a family member after the Department of Human Services was contacted.
Jason Wayne Poteet, 38, of Tahlequah, was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly stole a car from a convenience store. Tahlequah police later discovered Poteet and the vehicle in Tahlequah and he was arrested.
Toney Lee Davis, 33, of Tahlequah, was arrested recently for violating a protective order.
Deputies took a report from Joe Witherspoon last week after firearms were stolen.

Glenn Troutner filed a report Saturday when his 32-inch TV was stolen.
Anita Boston told police she was assaulted Monday.
Deputies responded to Welling Road Saturday when a woman found a 2-year-old walking down the road alone and without shoes. The child was returned to her mother when the mother called 911. Deputies said the home had a child-safety door knob, but it appeared an older child had opened the door and the 2-year-old had left and walked toward a family member’s home.
