TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Tahlequah man Sunday after he allegedly attacked a woman and caused her to suffer several injuries.

Michael James Desantis, 33, was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center for domestic assault and battery by strangulation. According to deputies, Desantis hit a woman several times during an argument, then grabbed her neck and choked her. He also allegedly pushed his lit cigarette into the woman’s chest to extinguish it. Desantis left the scene before deputies arrived, but they later returned to the residence and placed him in custody, according to a report of the incident.

Deputies took a report from Charlie McDonald last week after a woman jumped through the window of his truck, hit him and tried to choke him. McDonald told deputies the same woman had previously busted his flatscreen TV and broke a cabinet door off its hinges.

Deputies took a report Sunday from a 12-year-old girl who claimed she was injured by a car during an argument with her mother.

Kyle Moore spoke with deputies Saturday and filed an information report.

Melissa Whitekiller told deputies Saturday that she was bitten by two dogs while she was out on a walk.

Wanda Moss reported unauthorized use of a bank account last week and said charges were made to several websites.
