Woman arrested in connection with theft

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested a woman Thursday in connection to the theft of an automobile.

Tawny Johnson, 25, of Tahlequah, was booked into jail for theft of an automobile and obstruction. Johnson reportedly took the vehicle from a family member June 17 without permission. She returned home Thursday without the vehicle, and allegedly refused to tell deputies where they could find the truck.

According to deputies, the missing truck is a black and white 1995 Nissan EXE with Oklahoma tag 393-21C.

In other matters, Lauren Shields spoke with deputies this week to report another person fraudulently using her identification to attend a university.

Michelle Rundle told deputies Thursday she was assaulted during an argument.

Jeana Bates met with deputies Thursday to report a home burglary and the theft of jewelry and money.

William Sisco told deputies a woman vandalized his home and later sent him threatening messages.

Braley Sweeney filed an information report last week.

Mary Ponnequin told deputies this week she was hit in the face by a man, and the assault resulted in a severe injury below one of her eyes.
